ICILS

The International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS) is an international assessment measuring international differences in students’ computer and information literacy (CIL): their ability to use computers to investigate, create, participate and communicate.  Countries also have an option to complete an assessment of computational thinking (CT). ICILS deals with core knowledge, skills and understanding students’ needs to succeed in this dynamic information environment.

The ICILS study has been conducted by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), in 2013 and 2018.  Malta participated for the first time in this assessment in ICILS 2023 with Year 9 students.
